What is PAC?
The PAC is the legislated parent voice at the school level advising on any matter relevant to the school. The PAC represents the collective view of parents of children in the school. As a result of recent changes to the SCHOOL ACT, parent advisory councils are now responsible for electing parent representatives to the school planning councils. They also work with school principals to promote effective two-way communication between the school, the parent community and the School Planning Councils. All parents and guardians of children in a school are automatically members of PAC. The principal, school trustees and other staff members may also attend PAC meetings.
Parents are vital partners in their children’s education. Study after study shows that parental involvement is a major factor in a child’s academic success.
Please join us at our next PAC meeting. Meetings are on the first Tuesday of every month, usually at 7 p.m. in the staff room.
What does PAC do?
The PAC supports the students, staff and administration of the school:
- Offers input to the events taking place at the school
- Has funding available for students and events
- Organizes and runs fundraising events such as the Winter Bazaar and Spring Fun Fair
- Sponsors hot lunch events
- Enriches the school environment
